About the Role
Curam Care Homes is seeking a dedicated full-time Catering Assistant to join our committed care team at Oakfield Nursing Home in Gorey, County Wexford. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all tasks.
- Perform all work ensuring the safety of residents and adherence to food safety regulations.
- Strictly follow food safety and infection control protocols and ensure colleagues do the same.
- Collaborate effectively and communicate clearly with the multidisciplinary care team.
- Report incidents promptly to the Head Chef and the Director of Nursing or Person in Charge.
- Maintain professionalism, friendliness, and approachability in all interactions with residents, visitors, and staff.
- Keep catering and food safety documentation current and assist the Head Chef to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Monitor inventory levels of kitchen equipment and supplies and notify the Head Chef of any shortages.
- Contribute to delivering a high-quality, person-centered dining experience for residents.
- Assist in food preparation and support the cook/chef as needed.
- Support kitchen duties including washing up and serving meals, drinks, and snacks to residents.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience working in a nursing home setting is preferred but not essential.
- Previous experience as a Catering Assistant is desirable but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues, residents, and their families.
- Food safety training such as HACCP is advantageous; however, necessary training will be provided.
- Knowledge of the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) is beneficial.
