Position Overview
The Campus & Community Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role in planning, coordinating, and executing communication activities within the campus and community environment. This position supports various communication campaigns, content creation, digital platform updates, and manages stakeholder collaboration while ensuring adherence to KAUST and C&C communication standards. The role requires growing autonomy, sound editorial judgment, and the ability to assist the Engagement Lead with communication initiatives. Additionally, the Specialist provides operational and content support, prepares to deputize selected activities during absences, and advances toward broader communication leadership responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, and deployment of targeted engagement and communication campaigns across specific channels.
- Compose clear, precise, and appropriate content including copy, briefs, executive summaries, and campaign progress reports.
- Manage the publication of authorized announcements and update designated sections of the Campus & Community website via CMS platforms.
- Develop, schedule, and release approved content and monitor basic metrics using social media tools.
- Contribute to creating visual and multimedia content assets employing tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Maintain uniformity in tone, style, and messaging in line with KAUST and community brand guidelines.
- Coordinate with internal teams, the Global Brand Center, consultants, and external partners to clarify goals, timelines, and target audiences.
- Conduct meticulous proofreading, fact verification, and quality control, translating complex service updates into accessible messages.
- Track personal tasks, adhere to approval protocols, and ensure visibility of deliverables through project tracking systems.
- Offer daily operational assistance, lead specific activities during team member absences, and accommodate flexible working hours for events.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Media, Copywriting, or a similar discipline.
- At least five years of professional experience in marketing, copywriting, or corporate communications.
- Hands-on experience with website publishing on CMS platforms and proficiency in social media scheduling and analytics tools.
- Fundamental graphic design skills utilizing Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or equivalent software; photography and video editing skills are an advantage.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, with strong attention to detail and dedication to accuracy.
- Sound editorial judgment to detect content risks, identify gaps in approval, and escalate urgent concerns appropriately.
- Proven capability to organize tasks effectively, manage competing deadlines, and reliably complete assignments.
- Ability to work independently on designated tasks while following established guidelines.
- Confidence in liaising professionally with internal teams, service providers, and external parties on routine matters.
