CAD Technician - Civils

Role overview

The Civil & Structural CAD Technician will create precise, high-quality 2D drawings and 3D models for civil and structural engineering work across FEED and detailed design phases. The position supports multidisciplinary teams in producing coordinated, buildable, and standards-compliant design deliverables aligned with project and client requirements.

What you will do

• Draft 2D drawings and build 3D models for civil layouts, structural general arrangement drawings, reinforcement details, foundations, and steel structures.
• Prepare GA drawings, plans, sections, and detailed construction drawings.
• Develop drawing packages from concept-level design through detailed engineering.
• Check that all drawings follow client standards, applicable codes, and project specifications.
• Work with engineers to interpret design inputs and incorporate mark-ups.
• Assist with model-based coordination and clash checking.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines.
• Take part in design reviews and action review comments.
• Use AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, CADS RC, and Navisworks to develop models.
• Produce reinforcement detailing and structural modelling deliverables.
• Support BIM model creation, updates, and revisions.
• Ensure output meets QA/QC checks and CAD drafting standards.
• Keep drawing registers and version records up to date.
• Carry out self-checks before submitting work.
• Prepare final deliverables in PDF and DWG formats.
• Work on substation, power, and pipeline-related projects.
• Support civil and structural design work for energy, infrastructure, and industrial projects, including international assignments; UK exposure is preferred.
• Maintain well-organized documentation in project systems.
• Assist engineers with BOQs and quantity take-offs where needed.

Required skills and experience

• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
• Ability to use Revit for 3D structural or architectural modelling.
• Civil 3D experience is preferred.
• Hands-on familiarity with Navisworks for coordination and clash detection.
• Understanding of structural detailing for reinforced concrete and steel.
• Knowledge of civil layouts such as foundations, drainage, and site plans.
• Comfort with FEED and detailed design workflows.
• High attention to accuracy and drawing quality.
• Ability to manage deadlines in fast-paced project environments.
• Good communication and coordination abilities.
• Team-focused approach with a proactive mindset.
