Role Summary
The CAD Designer plays a crucial role in representing Cox London's sculptural creations accurately and efficiently through detailed designs, ensuring clients have an exceptional experience from the early project phases. Reporting to the Design and Estimation Manager, the position requires creating precise drawings that meet brand standards for flawless fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
- Possess in-depth knowledge of Cox London's materials, processes, and production techniques.
- Show expertise and enthusiasm for designing and manufacturing metal lighting and furniture, including cast bronze and forged steel.
- Maintain professional, clear communication across departments, fostering strong relationships from Sales to fabrication teams, and when interacting with clients.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail and manage the company’s drawing databases responsibly.
- Create bespoke designs within Cox London's design codes, including both standard Masterpiece collection pieces and custom commissioned works.
- Prepare design and manufacturing documentation using AutoCAD and Inventor; accurately interpret client architectural plans.
- Review prototypes and in-progress work versus manufacturing drawings; confidently flag discrepancies to management.
- Develop detailed, client-oriented installation and aftercare instructions.
- Collaborate with fabricators to ensure designs are understood and client expectations are met or exceeded.
- Work towards continuously meeting and improving departmental KPIs and key metrics.

- Expertise with Autodesk Product Design & Manufacturing suite including Inventor Professional and AutoCAD; Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
- Willingness to work on-site for frequent collaboration with colleagues and fabricators.
Additional Desirable Skills
- Experience working with Bills of Materials.
- Confidence in hand sketching and receptive to design feedback.
- Working knowledge of Rhino 3D and rendering tools such as Keyshot or equivalents.
- Experience designing for timber, glass, stone, ceramics, and textiles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Previous experience in a related role is preferred though talented entry-level candidates are welcome.
Qualifications
Degree in Product Design, Architecture, or a related field (BA(Hons) or BSc or equivalent).
Working Conditions
Standard working hours are 40 hours per week at the London N17 location.
