Overview
A manufacturing company based in the Niagara Falls, Ontario region is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their team. This role involves strategizing and managing purchasing activities to fulfill the company's operational needs efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute sourcing plans tailored to the company's requirements.
- Evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to guarantee quality standards, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
- Conduct market trend analyses and assess supplier performance for informed procurement choices.
- Oversee inventory levels and work closely with production planning to ensure procurement schedules are met.
- Manage vendor relationships, including conducting performance assessments, audits, and ensuring compliance.
- Drive cost-saving measures by negotiating with suppliers, exploring alternative sources, and improving procurement processes.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Finance, and other internal departments to align procurement objectives.
- Issue purchase orders and manage the end-to-end purchase process efficiently.
- Maintain detailed documentation of purchases, pricing, and related data.
- Address supply chain challenges such as shortages, delivery issues, and quality concerns.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, industry norms, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Five to seven years of procurement experience, ideally within manufacturing or industrial sectors.
- Proficient negotiation and contract management capabilities.
- Skilled in ERP/MRP software such as SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of supply chain and inventory management principles.
- Adept at prioritizing multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
- Professional certifications like CPP, CPSM, or SCMP are advantageous.
