Role overview
Citadel Edge is looking for an enterprise-level Business Development Manager focused on strategic growth. Based ideally in Canberra, this role is also open to candidates in Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane. The position blends direct business development delivery with broader strategic influence, with a strong emphasis on winning new customers and securing net-new logos. Reporting to the Managing Director of Enterprise Solutions, you will help shape commercial direction, build high-value sales approaches, and work closely with senior leaders to achieve growth targets.
About the company
Citadel Edge is an Australian-owned specialist technology business with more than 25 years of experience. The company supports important sectors such as government, health, defence, national security, higher education, and commercial industries. It delivers secure, end-to-end solutions and brings together specialist teams under one brand to provide enterprise software development, cyber assurance, and AI and data management capabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Spot and develop new business prospects, markets, and customers by using your network, relationship base, industry research, client insights, competitor analysis, and awareness of emerging opportunities.
- Build and maintain a healthy CRM pipeline of prospects that aligns with the company’s sales priorities.
- Own the full business development cycle, including qualifying opportunities, preparing proposals, contributing to pricing, negotiating terms, and closing contracts.
- Work with internal teams to create strong value propositions and customised client solutions.
- Help design and execute organisation-wide growth and commercial plans.
- Offer strategic advice, recommendations, and market insights to the Managing Director of Enterprise Solutions and other senior stakeholders.
- Lead and support cross-functional initiatives that contribute to long-term revenue growth and stronger market presence.
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the organisation in high-level client, partner, and industry discussions.
- Coach and guide others to strengthen business development capability across the business.
- Help foster a growth-oriented, commercially focused culture.
- Improve business development frameworks, tools, and processes on an ongoing basis.
- Ensure all growth activity remains aligned with company policy, governance requirements, and risk appetite.
- Support forecasting, reporting, and performance tracking for growth initiatives.
- Track and report on pipeline health, growth results, and key performance indicators.
- Identify and manage commercial, reputational, and delivery risks tied to growth opportunities.
What the company offers
- A flexible work environment.
- Additional leave options, including parental, volunteer, pawrental, and birthday leave, plus the option to buy extra leave.
- Opportunities to grow through leadership and development.
- Recognition initiatives and team celebrations.
- A workplace that prioritises wellbeing and community impact.
- An inclusive, supportive, and diverse culture.
Candidate profile
- Strong track record of success in senior business development, commercial, or growth-focused roles within a digital technology company.
- Ability to think strategically while still delivering clear commercial outcomes.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders in complex organisations and turning opportunities into wins in a timely way.
- Solid commercial judgement and a strong understanding of market dynamics and technology-sector growth strategy.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Marketing, or a related field are preferred.
- Baseline security clearance is preferred, but not compulsory.
Eligibility and application note
Candidates who do not meet every requirement are still encouraged to apply. If you need any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, support can be provided.
