About the Role
We are looking for a driven Business Development Manager to accelerate revenue growth within the freight and logistics industry. The successful candidate will formulate and implement strategic plans to grow both enterprise and SME client portfolios, nurture lasting client relationships, and work closely with operations to guarantee smooth service execution. A solid understanding of air, sea, and land freight, customs regulations, and shipper requirements is crucial.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and qualify new business leads across freight forwarding, customs clearance, warehousing, and associated logistics services, closing deals effectively.
- Create and carry out comprehensive account strategies targeting specific markets, industries, and geographical areas.
- Maintain a strong sales pipeline, deliver precise forecasts, and consistently meet quarterly and annual revenue objectives.
- Assess client needs, deliver customized solutions, and develop persuasive proposals and bids.
- Coordinate with Operations, Pricing, and Compliance to ensure offerings are viable, competitive, and compliant.
- Lead contract negotiations related to pricing and terms with customers and internal teams.
- Analyze market trends, competitor moves, and changes in regulations to shape business approaches.
- Represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and client engagements, fostering a wide external network.
- Oversee the onboarding process post-sale, ensuring high client satisfaction and retention.
- Generate periodic sales reports, dashboards, and revenue analyses to support leadership decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related discipline; advanced degrees such as MBA are preferred.
- Minimum of four years’ experience in B2B sales within freight, logistics, 3PL, or related fields with proven success in meeting targets and expanding accounts.
- In-depth knowledge of multiple freight modes including air, ocean, road, and rail along with customs procedures, incoterms, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong skills in negotiation, presentations, and proposal preparation.
- Excellent communication, cooperative work style, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce or HubSpot and proficiency in MS Office, alongside competency in data analysis and forecasting.
- Willingness and ability to travel as necessary and thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Fluency in languages applicable to the company’s target markets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with freight forwarders, NVOCCs, freight brokers, or integrations related to 3PL.
- Knowledge of digital freight platforms, optimizing transport modes, and cost-to-serve calculations.
- Relevant certifications such as CCLR or CPSM.
