Role Overview

Monticello is hiring a Business Analyst to work with teams across the organization in identifying business challenges and turning them into practical, data-led outcomes. In this position, you will create reports and analyses used by leadership and help coordinate delivery with offshore development teams. The role sits at the crossroads of finance, data, and technology, translating business questions into completed solutions.

This is a fully in-person position, and candidates must be able to work from the New York City office.

Key Responsibilities

You will collaborate with business stakeholders to understand needs, define requirements, and convert them into clear deliverables. The role also involves producing ad hoc reporting and analysis for urgent business questions, writing Python and SQL to work with data, and managing projects from problem discovery through implementation.

In addition, you will support coordination of offshore development teams, help improve data quality and quality-control processes, contribute to dashboards and reporting used for portfolio decisions, and participate in AI-related initiatives such as workflow automation, data ingestion, and analytics.

Technology Environment

Monticello’s data platform is built on modern, scalable tools. In this role, you will work with Python and SQL for analysis and reporting, Snowflake as the cloud data warehouse, dbt for version-controlled data transformations, Airflow for orchestration and workflow automation, and Git for source control.

Qualifications

The company is looking for candidates who can understand business problems and translate them into data-driven solutions. Prior experience preparing ad hoc reports and analyses for business users is important, along with strong SQL skills and working knowledge of Python for analysis, automation, and reporting.

Additional helpful experience includes Git, dbt, Snowflake or another cloud data warehouse, Airflow or similar orchestration tools, working with offshore or distributed teams, and using LLMs to improve coding productivity.

Compensation

The position offers a competitive base salary plus bonus. For New York City, the base salary range is $100,000 to $125,000 per year. Final pay depends on the selected candidate’s qualifications at the time of hire. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance reviewed during the annual review cycle.
