Role Overview
DHL offers an immediate opening for a Business Analyst focused on Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics. This pivotal role bridges operations, trade compliance, customs brokerage, finance, and IT teams to revolutionize clearance operations through data and AI-informed strategies. The analyst will evaluate and optimize comprehensive clearance procedures, securing compliance, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely import/export activities. Utilizing advanced analytics, machine learning, and automation, the position aims to uncover improvement areas, facilitate decision-making, and produce strategic insights supporting DHL’s logistics network and regulatory goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed analysis of operational and financial data to inform daily decision-making within DHL.
- Monitor, refine, and automate primary KPIs for clearance workflows including cycle times, delays, duty/tax forecasts, exception frequencies, and compliance risks.
- Create and manage interactive dashboards and self-service analytical tools, leveraging platforms such as Power BI.
- Interpret complex datasets into practical insights for stakeholders spanning Operations, Compliance, and leadership at gateways.
- Deploy AI and machine learning methods — like classification, anomaly detection, and forecasting — to enhance clearance processes and reveal patterns beyond traditional analytics.
- Assist in the development of intelligent automation solutions (e.g., Robotic Process Automation, workflow automation) for efficient repetitive task management within clearance and reporting.
- Integrate predictive analytics results into live dashboards and operational procedures to bolster real-time, data-driven decisions.
- Investigate and advocate for implementation of Generative AI capabilities such as automated report writing, document summarization, and tariff classification support.
- Build and sustain data pipelines with Python, SQL, and Snowflake supporting analytics and AI initiatives while ensuring data accuracy, governance, and reproducibility.
- Monitor AI model performance regarding precision, drift, and data integrity; support retraining and fine-tuning efforts.
- Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams for scaling and deploying analytics solutions.
- Identify process enhancements, cost savings, and service quality advancements within clearance operations using analytical insights.
- Analyze root causes for service disruptions and employ AI-driven pattern detection to minimize recurrence.
- Contribute to cross-departmental projects improving compliance, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Uphold DHL’s standards concerning data governance, privacy, and ethical AI application, including comprehensive documentation and audit compliance.
- Facilitate regulatory compliance through data-driven validations and insights aligned with global trade laws.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years’ experience in data/business analytics or related fields.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Data Analytics, Finance, Computer Science, or equivalent expertise.
- Strong skills in Excel and foundational data analysis.
- Proficiency with Python, SQL, and Snowflake for data handling and analytics.
- Experience using data visualization software such as Power BI.
- Capability to analyze trends and convey insights effectively to business units.
- Knowledge and interest in Generative AI applications within business processes.
- Attention to detail with the capacity to handle multiple assignments under guidance.
- Motivation to learn about customs, trade, and logistics regulations and procedures.
- Must be able to secure access to secure airport zones by obtaining and retaining a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge, which entails passing federal and other regulatory background validations.
