Role summary

The Budtender delivers an exceptional in-store experience by guiding customers with informed recommendations, warm service, and clear communication. The role also supports day-to-day dispensary operations, helps maintain compliance, and works closely with store leadership to keep the location running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Provide product knowledge, guidance, and individualized support so each customer receives a tailored dispensary experience.
• Respond to customer questions and issues promptly, and escalate unresolved concerns to management without delay.
• Accurately process customer orders using the point-of-sale system and inventory tools while following company, local, and state requirements.
• Stay engaged during changing sales volumes by continuing to learn, keeping the store organized, stocked, clean, and ready for customers.
• Help drive daily sales performance through the customer journey and by recommending suitable products that support store targets.
• Support managers in maintaining procedures that align with regulatory and compliance standards.
• Contribute to a respectful, positive workplace and bring curiosity and enthusiasm for cannabis products and the industry.
• Carry out additional tasks assigned by the Manager or Store Lead.
• Maintain the store’s appearance and ensure all areas, including restrooms, remain clean, safe, and guest-ready.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be able to clear all required background checks under state cannabis regulations.
• Must be available for a retail schedule that includes nights and weekends.
• Prior experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, or pharmacy is required.
• Must remain up to date on, and comply with, all state cannabis agency policies and regulations.
• Must be able to maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• Experience of 1 to 3 years in retail or another customer service role is preferred; cannabis industry experience is an advantage.
• No direct reports are associated with this position.

Education

A high school diploma or GED is required.
