Overview

This full-time position is located at the main campus in Gainesville, FL within the MD-Pharmacology - Therapeutics department. The role primarily focuses on conducting advanced biological research involving RNA scope techniques and protein chemistry as part of experimental projects on neurons and other cellular models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute sophisticated research projects emphasizing RNA scope applications for neuronal studies and use of wide-field microscopy.
  • Perform molecular biology methods such as plasmid isolation, purification, restriction enzyme digestion, PCR and qPCR, bacterial transformations, and gel electrophoresis.
  • Carry out protein biochemistry techniques including SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting, and ELISA assays.
  • Conduct mammalian cell culture and cellular biology experiments, including transfection procedures, cell maintenance, and confocal/wide-field microscopy imaging.
  • Investigate mechanisms of action for channel interfering compounds in rodent nociceptors.
  • Coordinate research projects by acting as a liaison between principal investigators, lab personnel, and external collaborators ensuring smooth operation and compliance with institutional and federal regulations.
  • Manage purchasing processes to optimize grant fund utilization, maintain inventory of lab supplies, and evaluate new products while negotiating with vendors.
  • Analyze experimental data, prepare detailed written reports, assist in drafting scientific manuscripts, grant proposals, abstracts, and contribute to literature reviews relevant to the lab's research focus.
  • Develop and refine laboratory protocols and maintain stringent documentation of research activities complying with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Working Hours and Conditions
