Baker

Role summary

The Baker is tasked with producing a range of bread and other bakery items within at least one area of the bakery department. This position also involves delivering strong customer service and carrying out duties in line with section operating requirements and hygiene control practices.

Key responsibilities

• Turn raw ingredients into finished and partially finished bakery goods, such as breads and pastries, by following production sheets and approved SOPs.
• Prepare bakery products for the display counter, keep the presentation attractive, and ensure items remain fresh.
• Respond to customer questions in a courteous, helpful, and prompt way.
• Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety rules, with full compliance to food-handling standards.
• Use, clean, and sanitize ovens, mixers, tools, and other bakery equipment in a safe and proper manner.
• Keep all workspaces clean and orderly, including freezers, chillers, and storage areas, and dispose of food waste correctly.
• Support continuous improvement by learning new skills, assisting coworkers, and following company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and understand basic English.
• A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is preferred, though not required.
• At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in a similar bakery role.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
• Comfort working effectively in a multicultural setting.
• Strong listening skills and careful attention to detail.
