Role Overview
The Automotive Technician is responsible for delivering comprehensive mechanical and technical support to the regional fleet and equipment services. This position functions within a multidisciplinary team that coordinates with external service providers, manages contract maintenance, and enhances quality control measures for fleet operations.
Key Duties
The technician will provide expert fleet advice regarding repairs, maintenance schedules, build standards, design specifics, and safety protocols to reduce negative impacts on the operational efficiency of the fleet and to support the improvement of patient safety outcomes.
Essential Attributes
- Extensive mechanical and technical expertise in fleet management and maintenance.
- Proficiency in using digital fleet and workshop management systems.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and consultation skills, capable of fostering effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially in interpreting performance data to enhance operational outcomes.
- Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
Mandatory Qualifications and Conditions
- Possession of a recognized trade qualification such as A: Grade Automotive Technician or an equivalent certification with at least three years of post-apprenticeship experience.
- Valid Queensland Driver's Licence at National Rigid Licence - Light Rigid (LR) standard or equivalent for interstate/international applicants, with an expectation to obtain a Queensland licence upon employment.
- Current or pending First Aid Certificate prior to starting the role.
- Desirable experience includes knowledge of the Code of Practice for Light Vehicles, air conditioning systems in vehicles, electrical systems, and modern diesel engines.
- Willingness to undertake after-hours or on-call duties as necessary.
