Role Summary
The Associate Threat Detection Analyst for APAC (Japanese Speaking) joins Fastly’s Customer Security Operations Center (CSOC) team to provide insights into internet-scale security threats leveraging Fastly's security product suite. This role focuses on operational support for Fastly’s security services, including managing agent software on client systems and collaborating internally across multiple teams to mitigate current internet security threats.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze customer activities, particularly around security aspects such as detecting account takeovers and bot attacks, and administering Web Application Firewall (WAF).
- Apply expert application security knowledge to escalated customer cases and automated alerts.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through research and enhancement of customer security products and operational processes.
- Develop and enforce scalable security policies and processes within the organization.
- Create and review customer security service reports and manage security content tailored for different customer environments.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment.
- Proficiency with foundational technologies including SaaS/Cloud or hybrid deployments and web server platforms like Apache, NGINX, IIS, alongside application servers and frameworks.
- Capability in scripting languages such as Python, Java, Go, Rust, PHP, Unix/Linux Shell, or C#.
- Strong background in information security, emphasizing practical skills in application security.
- Experience in IT or security support, operations, or research roles.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux or Windows system administration.
- Ability to manage tasks independently and mentor peers in security knowledge.
- Fluent in spoken and written English with adaptable communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Proven troubleshooting skills for software products.
- Commitment to providing outstanding customer service experience.
Work Schedule and Location
This role operates on a 24x7 basis with shifts scheduled Friday to Tuesday from 00:00 to 08:00 UTC (9am to 6pm AEST). The position is remote based, with the potential to move to a hybrid model as Fastly expands regionally. Some international travel, including to the United States, may be required based on role or management requests.
