What the role involves

In this position, you will support the Ranger team and gain practical experience across local law enforcement, animal management, parking compliance, community education, and regulatory services. The work is varied and hands-on, with a strong focus on community engagement and public wellbeing.

• Carry out patrols and inspections as directed.
• Assist with animal control duties and pound operations.
• Look into complaints and help with investigations.
• Support enforcement activities related to parking and signage.
• Prepare records, notices, and infringement documentation.
• Interact with the public in a professional and positive manner.

About you

The council is seeking someone with strong people skills who can stay calm and professional in difficult situations, work well both alone and in a team, and handle a role that involves outdoor work and community interaction.

• Good communication and interpersonal ability.
• A steady, professional approach when situations are challenging.
• Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Current Northern Territory driver’s licence.
• Current police clearance and Working with Children clearance.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation and council policies.
• Willingness to work with animals and support animal management tasks.
• Firearms Licence A & B, or a willingness to obtain it.

Experience in local government or animal management will be considered an advantage.
