Role Overview
The position of Assistant Manager - L2.5 Network Engineer requires expertise in Nokia networking platforms to support enterprise LAN, WAN, and Data Centre operations. Serving as an essential link between first-level operations and third-level SMEs, this role handles intricate incidents, advanced troubleshooting, and ensures network reliability where Nokia devices are extensively used.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver L2.5 support for enterprise LAN, WAN, and Data Centre networks.
- Independently manage P2 and P3 incidents, assist in P1 critical incidents alongside L3 specialists.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting and isolate issues specific to Nokia networking devices.
- Manage configurations, monitoring, and troubleshooting across Nokia 7750 SR, 7250 IXR, and 7220 Spine-Leaf platforms, implementing changes under L3 guidance.
- Configure and maintain service technologies including Epipe, IPIPE, VPRN, VPLS, and support MPLS, VPN, and QoS setups.
- Maintain and troubleshoot routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, EIGRP and switching protocols including STP, VLANs, HSRP, and VRRP; address failover and routing challenges.
- Assist in managing prefix lists, route policies, access control policies, and implement network configuration changes adhering to design standards.
- Utilize Nokia Service Platform (NSP) for monitoring, basic configuration, troubleshooting, and reporting tasks.
- Support enterprise network environments emphasizing high availability and spine-leaf architecture connectivity.
- Serve as an escalation point for L1 teams, collaborate closely with L3 SMEs, and coordinate with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Engage in continuous learning of Nokia technologies, network automation tools like Python and Ansible, and emerging networking trends.
- Maintain thorough documentation including incident details, configurations, SOPs, and troubleshooting processes.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years of hands-on experience supporting Nokia 7750, 7250, and 7220 platforms.
- Proficient knowledge of routing and switching protocols, MPLS, VPN technologies, and enterprise LAN/WAN/Data Centre networking.
- Experience with Nokia NSP and network monitoring tools.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Certifications and Additional Knowledge
- Certification such as Nokia NRS, CCNA, or CCNP is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Arista network devices is a plus.
Additional Information
- This is a full-time role based in Pune with office attendance required 5 days a week supporting 24×7 operations.
- The candidate will work in a high availability enterprise environment and must ensure network uptime and operational effectiveness.
