Job Purpose

This role is entrusted with ensuring the uninterrupted availability and dependability of Control & Instrumentation (C&I) systems specifically for the Ash Handling Plant (AHP) and water treatment units. Key responsibilities include preventive maintenance, system backups, technical audits, managing business associates, and budget control to achieve optimal system productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the field instrumentation engineering activities for AHP and water circuits related to Balance of Plant operations.
• Maintain continuous system availability by overseeing upkeep and support of C&I systems, including analyzers, for AHP and water treatment processes.
• Execute routine maintenance schedules to prevent breakdowns and enhance system efficiency.
• Regularly backup PLC systems to prevent data loss and downtime.
• Manage timely calibration of weighbridges and ensure compliance with measurement standards.
• Coordinate with contract workforce for onsite maintenance tasks.
• Support investigations and analyses such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and initiatives for zero forced outages (ZFO) to improve system dependability.
• Apply Management of Change (MoC) procedures to safely implement system or process modifications.
• Collate and communicate C&I resource needs for budget preparation.
• Oversee spare parts inventory, including promoting indigenous spare development to reduce costs.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and as-built drawings.
• Embed and promote safety, sustainability, and standard operating guidelines like IMS, AWMS, DISHA, and CHETNA within the department.
• Enhance skills and knowledge transfer among contract supervisors and technicians.
• Ensure strict safety compliance through training and permit systems to preserve personnel and equipment safety.
• Manage contractor safety and supervise departmental business partners to maintain a secure work environment.
• Ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Drive digitization initiatives and automation implementations to boost operational efficiencies in C&I systems.
• Apply innovative technology solutions and process improvements aligned with organizational strategies.
• Collaborate regularly with internal stakeholders such as Operations & Maintenance, Security, and Stores, as well as external vendors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Control & Instrumentation, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in control and instrumentation within power plants or heavy industrial sectors.
• Experience working in power generation environments and familiarity with Balance of Plant operations including coal handling, water treatment, ash handling systems, CCTV, Public Address systems, and Fire Detection & Alarm systems.
