Training Details

During your apprenticeship as a Kanalbauer, you'll gain hands-on experience working in trenches, preparing shaft structures, and laying durable pipe systems designed to last for decades. You will operate state-of-the-art machinery, test pipelines for tightness, and perform repairs when necessary.

Career Prospects

After successfully completing your apprenticeship and gaining practical experience, you can progress to roles such as foreman, site supervisor, certified supervisor, or master craftsman.

Program Duration and Locations

• The training period is 36 months, culminating in a journeyman/facharbeiter examination.
• Inter-company training takes place at ÜAZ Glauchau.
• Vocational school attendance is at Zwickau.
• Company-based training occurs at the company’s site in Chemnitz.

Requirements

• Manual dexterity, such as installing sewage pipes and components
• Strong hand-eye coordination, for instance when filling and compacting soil using specialized machinery
• Attention to detail and caution, for example sealing wastewater pipes and excavating canal trenches with machinery

Apprenticeship Remuneration

• Year 1: €1122 per month
• Year 2: €1351 per month
• Year 3: €1610 per month
