Position Overview
The Anesthesia Scheduler plays a vital role in coordinating anesthesia provider schedules across several facilities, ensuring proper insurance verification and fiscal management for the anesthesia department.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify insurance benefits for all surgical patients requiring anesthesia coverage and communicate patient financial responsibilities to appropriate departments.
- Check if pre-authorizations are necessary and obtained, following up with relevant departments regarding authorization status.
- Manage anesthesia staffing assignments for surgeries at multiple locations including LRH (Main, GI, EP, Pediatrics, Radiology), LSDC Main, Griffin Road, and BRMC.
- Complete and finalize documents to notify anesthesia staff of their assignments.
- Maintain accurate payroll data for anesthesia department personnel.
- Perform any other tasks as directed by the department Coordinator.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The role operates in a fast-paced anesthesia department requiring multitasking amid distractions. Strong telephone communication etiquette and computer proficiency are essential. Although the position description mentions working remotely in a private setting, it is also specified that the job is 100% onsite in Lakeland, Florida.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED plus four years of relevant experience acceptable).
- Preferred experience in a business office environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, is highly favored.
