About the Team
The Continuous Improvement Team at the University of Otago focuses on enhancing efficiency by developing skills, refining processes, introducing digital tools, and nurturing a culture committed to continuous improvement. The team is dedicated to enabling individuals to solve challenges, embrace innovative practices, and enhance services offered to students, staff, and the community. With an expanding focus on capability, the team supports learning in continuous improvement, AI literacy and application, operational data insight, and contemporary work methods.
Role Overview
This role centers on capability building by designing and delivering interactive workshops, training workshops, and learning experiences that promote skills in continuous improvement, AI literacy, operational data insights, and digital workflows. Collaborating closely with university stakeholders, the role facilitates growth in skills and confidence to adopt new working methodologies. The incumbent will also assist in creating learning resources, programs, and initiatives to support innovation and continuous enhancement across the institution.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging workshops and training sessions that build capability.
- Facilitate learning that advances continuous improvement, AI, and digital skills.
- Develop accessible learning resources and guidance materials.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships to support development efforts across the university.
- Assess and improve learning programs and experiences on an ongoing basis.
- Participate in initiatives promoting continuous improvement, innovation, and the uptake of new technologies.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in conducting workshops, training sessions, or capacity-building activities.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Strong enthusiasm for continuous improvement, innovation, and lifelong learning.
- Ability to simplify complex concepts into practical and understandable learning content.
- Comfortable with adopting and mastering new digital tools and technologies.
Desirable expertise includes knowledge in Continuous Improvement methodologies, Lean Six Sigma, AI technologies, Microsoft 365 suite, instructional design, coaching, change management, and data literacy.
Additional Information
This is a full-time fixed-term position (37.5 hours per week) located in Ōtepoti (Dunedin), New Zealand, lasting until November 2027. Applicants must be legally entitled to live and work in New Zealand.
The salary band for this role ranges from NZD 75,631 to NZD 80,503 per annum.
