Role Overview

The Accountant-General is responsible for verifying accuracy of financial figures, postings, and documentation while organizing and safeguarding files, records, as well as cash and cash equivalents in line with company policies. This role involves recording, securing, accessing, and analyzing computerized financial data, and classifying and summarizing numerical and monetary information using journals, ledgers, or computerized systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, maintain, audit, and distribute various financial, accounting, auditing, payroll reports, and statistical tables.
  • Execute period-end closing tasks and generate the necessary reports as per requirements.
  • Prepare, review, reconcile, and issue bills, invoices, and account statements while adhering to company procedures.
  • Manage overdue accounts and vendor invoices by following up to ensure full payment or resolution.
  • Compile daily consolidated deposits collected by cash handling personnel.
  • Document, maintain, communicate, and address all discrepancies related to cash variances.
  • Oversee administration of cashier banks and contracts efficiently.
