Position Overview

The school seeks a full-time 5th Grade Math and Science Teacher for the First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School. This exempt position lasts 10 months and reports to the Principal within the Teacher department.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a scope and sequence aligned with the PSSA Assessment Anchors.
• Prepare weekly lesson plans that conform to state standards and current curriculum in collaboration with American Paradigm Schools.
• Assess student work promptly and provide constructive feedback.
• Engage in communication with team members regarding school-wide and grade-specific expectations.
• Maintain effective communication with families concerning their children's academic progress.
• Collaborate with ESL and special education teachers.
• Foster positive relationships with students.
• Participate in after-school events as required.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.

Qualifications and Certifications

• Bachelor's Degree (mandatory).
• Valid Pennsylvania Certification (mandatory).

Physical Demands

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, and talk extensively.
• Capability to push, drive, lift between 20-25 lbs, and move up and down from seating positions.
• Capacity to restrain and navigate stairs.
