About the Role
Princess Bento Studio is seeking expressions of interest for the position of 2D Art Director for early 2027. This full-time onsite role is based in South Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and requires candidates to have full working rights in Australia.
The Art Director will oversee and lead the design workflow in partnership with the show creators. This position demands a solid foundation in art direction, visual development, and supervisory skills to manage creative projects, maintain quality standards, and ensure team consistency. Coordinating with design supervisors, layout supervisors, and the production team, the Art Director will ensure production milestones, processes, and schedules are met.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design pipeline collaboratively with show creators.
- Oversee creative tasks while ensuring high-quality visual development and art direction.
- Work closely with design supervisors, layout supervisors, and the production team to comply with timelines and production schedules.
- Enhance the overall design quality of the 2D animated series through strong artistic and team management skills.
Requirements & Skills
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in 2D animation, with at least 7 years in a similar art director role.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret and integrate complex information and ideas.
- Collaborative and consultative approach suitable for a global working environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities to meet deadlines efficiently.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office Suite, and Toon Boom Harmony.
- Confident in giving presentations and facilitating discussions.
- Ability to lead client-focused projects to achieve expected show standards.
- Experienced in managing and leading large creative teams effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to ensure the smooth flow of information within production and teams.
- High professionalism, maturity, and self-initiative.
Additional Information
Experience working on episodic series and longform animation projects is highly desirable.
