Overview
Global Logistics, Inc. (GLI), a veteran-owned and family-run boutique 4PL firm established in 1996, is seeking a seasoned Vice President to lead its Managed Freight Solutions division. This key executive role involves expanding operational and sales frameworks and delivering exceptional service across domestic freight transportation modes, including LTL, FTL, and others. The position requires expertise in transport management systems (TMS), carrier network development, customer onboarding, and strategic leadership within a 4PL environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Managed Freight Solutions unit by setting strategic direction, fostering growth, and ensuring excellence in service delivery.
- Manage LTL and FTL Request for Proposals (RFPs), negotiate freight rates, assess carrier performance, and analyze prospective freight opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Director of Over-the-Road (OTR) Solutions to establish and strengthen carrier networks and national capacity.
- Guide client journeys from initial prospect engagement through onboarding, TMS implementation, first shipments, and ongoing operational refinement for retention.
- Oversee and mentor sales and operations teams, aligning their efforts to meet revenue targets and deliver high-quality service.
- Maintain daily interactions with customers and carriers, representing GLI with professionalism and extensive industry knowledge.
- Design and implement scalable, integrated freight solutions informed by comprehensive 4PL model expertise.
- Manage all aspects of TMS strategy, including platform choice, rollout, configuration, integration, workflow enhancement, and user engagement.
- Lead business scaling initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, sales processes, client onboarding, and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Supervise warehousing pricing strategies, project planning, and the incorporation of warehousing services into freight programs.
- Identify continuous process improvement opportunities across sales, operations, carrier relations, and onboarding functions.
- Leverage or establish a significant book of business and strong industry relationships to drive organizational growth.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of domestic freight transportation modalities including LTL, truckload, partial shipments, intermodal, and expedited services.
- Demonstrated success in scaling business operations and enhancing sales and operational processes.
- Advanced expertise in TMS platforms with a track record of successful deployments, customization, integrations, and workflow improvements.
- Strong negotiation capabilities with extensive experience managing LTL and FTL RFPs.
- Proven experience in onboarding, managing, and retaining shipper accounts through entire implementation cycles.
- Experience leading and developing sales and operations teams.
- In-depth understanding of the 4PL business model and developing integrated, multi-modal freight solutions.
- Additional advantageous experience includes 3PL project design, warehousing pricing and solutions, and international logistics including ocean and air freight.
- Ability to bring or cultivate an established client portfolio is highly valued.
