About The Role
As a Transmission Line Patroller, you will be essential in ensuring the safety, reliability, and high performance of New Zealand’s transmission infrastructure. This position involves working independently across various outdoor environments to inspect transmission assets, proactively identify risks, and provide precise information that supports maintenance scheduling and network dependability. You will cooperate closely with operational teams, landowners, and customers, all while maintaining a high degree of autonomy.
Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled patrols and inspections of transmission lines.
- Detect and document defects concerning structures, vegetation, access routes, and third-party activities using digital systems.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date asset and landowner records and complete inspection and compliance documentation.
- Submit reports that assist in prioritizing maintenance activities.
- Monitor access tracks and assist in liaising with landowners.
- Participate in audits and initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.
- Ensure all activities meet health, safety, environmental, regulatory, and customer standards.
- Maintain professional representation of Northpower in the field, fostering a culture of safety, cooperation, and operational excellence.
Experience and Qualifications
- Hold relevant transmission-specific qualifications or certifications.
- Possess a valid, clean New Zealand driver’s license.
- Have prior experience in transmission environments; experience with Transpower assets is an advantage.
- Demonstrate strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance practices.
- Exhibit keen attention to detail and the ability to accurately capture field data.
- Possess effective communication and teamwork skills with a customer-oriented approach.
- Be capable of working independently in dynamic outdoor settings.
- Basic computer literacy is beneficial.
- Drone operation experience is preferred but training will be provided if needed.
