Technical Superintendent

Job Overview

The Technical Superintendent position is responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and operational effectiveness of assigned LNG/LPG vessels managed directly or through third parties. The role involves active participation in fleet initiatives aiming at safe, efficient, and cost-effective vessel operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Ensure vessels operate safely, reliably, and efficiently by upholding technical and operational maintenance standards.
• Provide expert marine engineering support and shipping guidance to vessels.
• Assist in vessel budget preparation, monitor expenses, and analyze cost deviations with explanations.
• Collaborate with the Supply Department to source technical and operational materials economically.
• Verify compliance with flag, class, and regulatory standards; manage certification and survey validations.
• Identify and recommend solutions or modifications for vessel improvements and technical issues, ensuring completion of outlined outcomes.
• Conduct statistical assessments and reports covering technical standards, repairs, dry dockings, and operational performance to meet leading industry practices.
• Minimize loss time accident incidence to targeted levels and maintain records of accidents and near misses to enhance safety.
• Contribute to creating and refining ship management policies and procedures.
• Assist with purchasing of spare parts and equipment in coordination with relevant departments.
• Prepare, evaluate, and update dry docking specifications as required.
• Support risk assessments, accident investigations, and detailed reporting.
• Fulfill Emergency Response Plan responsibilities under the guidance of the Company Incident Commander.
• Engage in technical studies to suggest enhancements to vessel quality standards.
• Represent the company in industry forums when requested.
• Maintain communication with customers regarding technical and operational vessel matters.

• Uphold all QHSE policies so the company delivers safe, secure, environmentally responsible, and high-quality services.
• Implement mandated policies and procedures, ensuring team compliance.
• Support departmental projects and other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of Class 2 level competency certification.
• Between 4 and 8 years professional experience, including a minimum of 2 years onboard LNG/LPG vessels in relevant roles.
• At least 2 years shore-based experience in repair and maintenance supervision of LNG/LPG vessels.

Job Specific Skills

• Strong expertise in technical operations of large gas carriers under ownership and management.
• Experience with LNG/LPG vessel refit projects.
• Skilled in conducting accident investigations, root cause analyses, and producing comprehensive reports with recommendations.
• Competent in budget compilation and financial control for vessel operations.
• Experienced in engineering troubleshooting for marine systems.
