Job description

Role Overview

Take the helm of managing bridges and key structural assets within Hawke’s Bay and Tairāwhiti's highway networks. This full-time, Napier-based position entrusts you with overseeing a multimillion-dollar portfolio, guiding investment, safety, and resilience decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the stewardship of the regions’ structure assets, ensuring lifecycle longevity, adherence to safety standards, and delivering valuable returns on infrastructure investments. Manage contracts, strategic planning, and risk assessment for bridge and structural maintenance while collaborating with a variety of stakeholders including consultants, contractors, and experts.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate holds a tertiary qualification in civil or structural engineering or comparable experience. Experience in managing asset portfolios, program development, and consultants is required, alongside deep understanding of bridge engineering standards and maintenance practices. Financial management skills, risk evaluation, and business case expertise are essential. Membership with Engineering NZ or SESOC is preferred.
