Structure Inspector

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Structural Inspector with expertise in civil engineering, particularly in structural assessments. The incumbent will carry out detailed inspections, assess the structural condition of infrastructure projects, and deliver comprehensive evaluation reports. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and thorough knowledge of structural engineering concepts.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and targeted inspections on road and highway infrastructure including bridges, flyovers, underpasses, tunnels, retaining walls, abutments, culverts, drainage systems, and roadside installations.
• Confirm that construction activities adhere to approved IFC drawings, technical specifications, and prescribed method statements.
• Conduct visual inspections, dimensional measurements, and non-destructive testing (NDT) on concrete and steel structures.
• Oversee concrete-related processes such as formwork, reinforcement placement, concreting, post-tensioning, and curing.
• Ensure compliance with standards set by AASHTO, ASCE, FHWA, ASTM, as well as UAE local regulatory requirements.
• Document all inspection observations, record site data, generate non-conformance reports, and monitor corrective measures.
• Compile detailed inspection and progress reports that detail the structural state, construction quality matters, and safety issues along with recommendations.
• Collaborate closely with contractors, consultants, and project management teams to coordinate daily inspection activities.
• Support Project Engineers by evaluating shop drawings, material submissions, and inspection requests.
• Guide and mentor junior inspectors and on-site personnel in best practices related to road structure construction.
• Participate in site meetings involving clients, contractors, and relevant regulatory bodies.
• Assist with audits, quality evaluations, and inspections by authorities or third parties.
• Align inspection procedures with project schedules and safety protocols.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with preference for structural specialization; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
• Professional Engineering (PE) or equivalent certification is preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of demonstrated experience in structural inspections, especially within road, highway, bridge, and major infrastructure projects.
• Experience in consultant supervision roles is highly beneficial.
• Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, construction methodologies for roads and highways, quality assurance, and inspection techniques.
• Proficiency with inspection tools, testing equipment, and relevant reporting software.
