About the Role

We have an opening for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our specialized Cancer Care SDEC team at Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The Single Day Emergency Care unit operates every day from 8am to 6pm, providing urgent evaluation for patients experiencing acute complications from cancer or its treatment. Our team is well-established and works within a modern, purpose-built assessment facility led by Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct nursing care to patients within the Cancer Care SDEC.
  • Perform clinical assessments, including blood sampling, cannulation, and ECG recordings.

Requirements and Eligibility

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a qualified nurse.

Additional Information

The role involves working at Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The trust is actively investing and transforming services as part of the New Hospital Programme, which may result in temporary or permanent changes to service locations. Employees will be informed and can discuss specific service details during interviews.

Employees should note that if services relocate, mileage for excess travel will not be reimbursed; travel from home to the new workplace will be treated as standard commuting. Other changes will be managed under national or trust agreements.

University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust promotes inclusivity and supports networks for Women, BAME, Pride, EU citizens, Pro Ability, and Armed Forces personnel. They participate in Disability Confident and Armed Forces Covenant interview initiatives. Integrity in recruitment is emphasized, and though artificial intelligence tools may be used, applicants’ skills and experiences must be honestly represented.

Interview Date: Monday, 17th August 2026
