Specialist - Safety & Occupational Health Compliance

Role Overview

This position is responsible for developing and applying top-tier safety protocols and ensuring adherence to all safety and occupational health regulations aligned with DGCA, ICAO, and other statutory requirements at airport facilities. Collaborating with diverse stakeholders, the role focuses on auditing and maintaining regulatory compliance tied to Aerodrome licensing and other statutory frameworks to guarantee secure, compliant, and seamless airport and aircraft operations.

Core Duties

• Design and execute a safety and compliance auditing program to internally assess the aerodrome abiding by Aerodrome License stipulations, DGCA CARs, ICAO Annex 14, and ICAO manuals on Airport Service and Aerodrome Design.
• Establish and enforce a Safety Management System (SMS), including communicating safety policies and implementing ongoing internal safety awareness initiatives.
• Continuously monitor updates in DGCA regulations related to aerodromes, promptly share these to relevant parties, and ensure associated updates in SOPs, manuals, ground infrastructure, and air traffic requirements.
• Develop safety assessment documentation such as hazard logs and oversee risk mitigations as defined within the SMS framework.
• Coordinate integration of SMS systems among all stakeholders with the airport operator’s SMS.
• Authorize and certify new aerodrome infrastructure ensuring conformity with DGCA CAR standards prior to commissioning.

Stakeholder Interactions

• Engage with regulatory bodies such as DGCA and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
• Collaborate with CISF, Airports Authority of India including ATC, ground handlers, service providers, airlines, vendors, and private airports.
• Work internally with all operational and functional teams, including senior management and departmental heads.

Financial and Additional Responsibilities

• Manage the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and budgeting processes efficiently.
• Maintain professional conduct and foster teamwork when interacting with varied stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in BE (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil) or BSc (Electronics/Physics).
• Possession of recognized safety certifications and Airport Management Professional Accreditation from ACI & ICAO.
• Familiarity with ICAO Annex 14 and other ICAO service and design manuals.
• Advanced computer literacy.
• Between 12 to 15 years of relevant experience including at least 5 years in Air Traffic Control, Airside Operations/Engineering, safety and occupational health audits, compliance management, SMS execution, OH surveillance, and regulatory coordination.
• Preference for candidates from Goa or those with prior professional experience in Goa.
