Job Overview

The Specialist in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) at Maaden is tasked with promoting and maintaining safety standards across mine sites. This role involves conducting regular audits, accident investigations, compliance monitoring, and fostering a safety-conscious culture in a mining environment located in Northern Frontier, Saudi Arabia.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections, audits, and hazard assessments at mining locations, identifying unsafe conditions and ensuring adherence to established safety rules and regulations by all employees.
• Investigate both injury and non-injury incidents to identify root causes and formulate recommendations for corrective actions directed to relevant department managers.
• Ensure that contractor personnel are fully aware of and comply with company safety policies as well as environmental regulations, following up to guarantee adherence.
• Analyze accident statistics to propose improvements aimed at enhancing overall safety performance and reducing incident frequency. Distribute safety communications and materials to boost safety awareness among staff.
• Participate as a safety representative in committee meetings and take active roles during emergency response operations as needed.
• Collaborate with the Internal Audit department on incidents related to equipment or property damage, particularly those involving insurance claims.
• Compile and submit weekly and monthly safety reports to the designated key stakeholders.
• Monitor mining sites for any new or ongoing safety concerns, recommending corrective measures promptly when violations or incidents occur.
• Work closely with general foremen and superintendents to identify potential safety risks and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Develop and implement a strategic safety culture plan specific to the mining site to foster continuous improvement and safety ownership.

Education and Experience Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Mining, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related technical field is mandatory.
• The candidate must have between three and five years of experience in safety engineering, ideally within the mining or oil and gas sectors.
