Overview
Join our Financial Services Tax team within Corporate Tax services and support clients in meeting their tax responsibilities while managing tax impacts on their businesses. You will provide guidance on domestic and international tax matters, act as a strategic advisor on business analysis, working capital management, and profit sharing amongst partners. Additionally, you will help clients understand pricing consequences for transactions between related entities and advise on tax effects of business deals.
Our group assists Financial Services clients in navigating the complex and evolving national and international tax landscape shaped by capital requirements, operational tax risk management, and multi-jurisdictional investment tax implications. Your role will involve tax structuring and addressing challenges in an ever-changing tax environment both locally and globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting Engagement Letters, defining scope of work, and preparing Statements of Credentials.
- Supporting the team in preparing Returns of Income including online registrations and obtaining digital signatures.
- Submitting assessments, rectification requests, appeals before CIT(A), Tribunal, and High/ Supreme Courts, as well as filing Dispute Resolution Panel objections and other required tax authority communications.
- Maintaining mandatory Anti-Money Laundering and client/assignment acceptance records.
- Coordinating with clients to send signed Engagement Letters and assisting associates and assistant managers with preliminary client follow-ups for Relationship Management formalities.
- Helping prepare and file Permanent Account Number (PAN) applications, securing signed documents and authenticating constitutions.
- Liaising with NSDL and tax authorities to ensure PAN allocation to clients.
- Assisting in responding to client inquiries and supporting advisory and regulatory matters.
- Building and maintaining management information system databases.
- Preparing and presenting content for Central Excise (CE) and Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI) tax and regulatory topics.
- Contributing to the training of new employees.
- Regularly monitoring the PwC FII Mumbai team email inbox for updates and communications.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce or a related discipline with 0 to 3 years of relevant experience.
- Fundamental understanding of Tax and Accounting principles.
- Additional knowledge in Direct Tax, Corporate Tax (Income Tax and Double Tax Avoidance Agreements), Corporate Law, International Tax, FEMA, and Transfer Pricing is advantageous.
- Prior tax experience is a plus.
- Key skills include a proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and dedicated work ethic.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal abilities.
