About the Role
Do you have a knack for spotting compelling stories before others? Are you often capturing photos or short videos at local events, or noticing interesting people and businesses wherever you go? If so, this opportunity is ideal for you.
Our company, Mighty Rockets LLC, publishes Peachtree Corners Magazine, Norcross Magazine, THE CREEK – Johns Creek Magazine, along with various podcasts, newsletters, and community websites. We focus on highlighting the stories of local businesses, nonprofits, city events, and the individuals enriching these communities.
Job Overview
We seek a creative content creator and social media manager passionate about expanding our audience rather than just handling posts. This is a part-time contractor (1099) position with approximately 30-35 hours monthly, providing growth potential as our brands expand.
Key Responsibilities
- Design engaging content tailored for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, and emerging platforms.
- Transform magazine articles, podcasts, newsletters, and local happenings into social media posts that captivate and encourage sharing.
- Capture photos, short videos, interviews, and behind-the-scenes moments at events in Peachtree Corners, Norcross, and Johns Creek.
- Edit videos into engaging Reels, Shorts, and TikToks using software such as CapCut, Adobe Express, Canva, or similar tools.
- Create authentic, conversational captions that reflect a human touch.
- Maintain an organized content calendar while promptly leveraging trending topics.
- Collaborate closely with the publisher and managing editor.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses an influencer mindset, even if not formally identifying as one.
- Enthusiastic about discovering local events and news.
- Skilled at making routine events appear interesting through social media.
- Understands platform-specific content performance nuances.
- Comfortable capturing photos and videos and efficiently editing content.
- Capable of working independently without constant oversight.
- Proactive in suggesting fresh ideas and experimenting with content strategies.
- Enjoys engaging with people and representing a community-focused media outlet.
Experience and Tools
The role values creativity and portfolio quality over formal degrees. Applicants should provide samples of past work such as personal or managed social media accounts, freelance projects, or content channels.
Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Express, CapCut or equivalents, Google Workspace, Mailchimp, and social media scheduling tools like SocialPilot is required. Experience with AI tools for idea generation, editing, and workflow enhancement is beneficial.
