Site Engineer - Bridges

Job Overview

The Site Engineer will oversee and coordinate daily construction operations specifically related to bridge and infrastructure projects. This role is critical to ensuring construction is carried out safely, efficiently, and in adherence to approved designs, technical specifications, quality standards, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise site activities daily and track progress according to approved schedules.
• Ensure construction complies with Issued For Construction (IFC) drawings, specifications, method statements, and contractual obligations.
• Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, surveyors, and inspectors to coordinate on-site activities.
• Confirm site preparedness and availability of resources before starting construction work.
• Monitor labor productivity and optimize the use of manpower, machinery, and materials.
• Oversee bridge construction ensuring alignment and tolerances meet approved requirements.
• Work closely with survey teams to validate setting-out, levels, and structural positioning.
• Manage interfaces between bridge works and associated infrastructure tasks, identifying and mitigating site constraints influencing progress.
• Conduct inspections ensuring adherence to quality standards and identify deviations requiring corrective actions.
• Prepare construction documentation including as-built records and coordinate inspection requests (IRs) and material inspection requests (MIRs).
• Review construction drawings and technical documents before execution and assist in resolving technical challenges on-site.
• Coordinate design clarifications and verify compliance with approved shop drawings.
• Support the implementation of engineering changes and approved revisions at site.
• Document daily progress, report on completed works, identify risks or delays, and recommend corrective solutions.
• Participate in planning activities by providing input on progress and resource forecasting.
• Engage in site and technical coordination meetings to ensure clear communication between site and office teams.
• Promote health, safety, and environmental standards, conduct safety talks, inspections, and incident investigations to uphold best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
• Professional Engineering registration is a plus.
• Additional credentials in construction management or bridge engineering are desirable.
• Possess 5 to 8 years of experience in civil infrastructure construction with 3 to 5 years focused on bridge projects.
• Experience in Saudi Arabia or the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region is highly valued.
• Work experience with main contractors, consultants, or Project Management Consultancy (PMC) firms is preferred.
