Senior Test Engineer

Job Overview

The University of Auckland is seeking a Senior Test Engineer for a fixed-term full-time role within the Product Engineering team. Reporting to the Digital Test Manager, this role is essential for ensuring solutions meet high standards of quality and reliability, delivering superior digital outcomes university-wide. The position involves working in the People & Culture Delivery Team, focusing on Human Capital Management platforms such as Workday and enterprise system integrations. Experience in Agile environments and deadline-driven delivery is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage comprehensive quality assurance activities independently throughout project lifecycles, from initiation to delivery.
• Implement and adhere to industry-standard QA best practices.
• Conduct QA testing on all applications and solutions developed and maintained by the Delivery Team.
• Engage in every phase of the Software Development Lifecycle to verify that deliverables meet intended business requirements and are fit for purpose.
• Support and validate integrations between enterprise platforms, including Workday and other HR/payroll systems.

About You

• Demonstrate a passion for delivering high-quality software in complex enterprise settings.
• Possess experience with HCM platforms such as Workday and payroll systems, specializing in integration testing.
• Strong background in both functional and non-functional testing methodologies across enterprise applications.
• Proven ability to work effectively in large organizations within agile teams, showing adaptability and a proactive learning approach.
• Skilled in test strategy formulation, planning, test case design, API and backend testing, as well as understanding of test automation.
• Capability to quickly grasp new domains, tools, and processes.

About the Team

The Connect team supports the University’s core operations including administration, teaching, learning, and research. Embedded within Digital Services and the Product Engineering Department, the QA Testing team focuses on delivering high-quality digital solutions in an agile IT environment based at the Newmarket Campus.

Additional Information

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), 12-month fixed-term role, offering a salary between NZD 105,701 and NZD 121,900 depending on skills and experience. The position is located at the Newmarket Campus with occasional work at the City Campus. Flexible working arrangements are available based on business necessities.
