Role Overview

This position is for a Senior Production Manager based in Kolkata within a heavy machinery manufacturing environment. The salary offered is 20 LPA. The role is focused on end-to-end plant production leadership across fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and dispatch.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full production cycle, covering fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and dispatch functions.
  • Deliver daily, weekly, and monthly output targets while making efficient use of available resources.
  • Improve productivity, refine processes, and cut down manufacturing-related losses.
  • Track shop floor operations to ensure production plans and delivery commitments are met on time.
  • Work closely with PPC, Quality, Maintenance, SCM, and Stores teams to keep plant operations running smoothly.
  • Introduce and sustain Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and other continuous improvement practices.
  • Plan manpower effectively and maintain workforce discipline along with operator-level productivity.
  • Review machine utilization, rejection levels, downtime, and overall process efficiency.
  • Maintain compliance with safety rules, quality systems, and manufacturing statutory requirements.
  • Prepare MIS reports covering production output, efficiency, rejections, and plant performance.
  • Manage customer audits, internal audits, and compliance-related process reviews.
  • Create SOPs, process controls, and production standards across departments.
  • Guide, coach, and develop production supervisors, engineers, and shop-floor teams.

Candidate Profile

The employer is seeking someone with a B.E., B.Tech, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering and 12 to 18 years of experience in production or manufacturing operations.

Experience must be from heavy machinery manufacturing or closely related engineering sectors such as industrial equipment, fabrication, capital equipment, process equipment, DG sets, material handling equipment, or steel structures.

Strong hands-on exposure to fabrication, welding, assembly, machining, and plant-level operations is required. The candidate should also be comfortable managing large shop-floor teams and multiple production lines.
