Job Overview

The Senior Planner plays a vital role in enhancing McDermott's Planning and Scheduling discipline by applying extensive expertise and insight from both internal and external perspectives. They support less experienced colleagues by sharing deep conceptual and practical knowledge, solving complex challenges, and contributing to improvements in products and services. This position significantly influences customer relations, operational processes, and project activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct schedule analysis utilizing project management tools such as Primavera P6, Deltek Fuse & Risk, and Microsoft Project.
  • Assist in the creation of project baselines during initiation and setup phases.
  • Lead detailed multi-disciplinary scope evaluations.
  • Offer schedule support and mentorship to junior planners as needed.
  • Develop and sustain logically linked Level 3 and Level 4 activity schedules for marine installation projects within the Oil and Gas sector, including pipelines, subsea works, platforms, and HDD, following precedence flow and best industry practices.
  • Generate workforce histograms and progress and quantity curves associated with the scheduled activities.
  • Oversee and verify the sequencing of Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Construction, Hook-Up, Commissioning, and other activities to manage critical path and overall project timelines.
  • Identify and accelerate operations causing schedule delays; analyze schedule changes to adapt to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Establish and monitor schedule compliance and key performance indicators, analyzing any deviations from the baseline data.
  • Detect current and potential delay factors, assess recovery strategies, and evaluate schedule modifications to accommodate unexpected issues.
  • Take the lead in delivering initiatives that advance the planning discipline.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Business Management, or a related field, or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • Seven to ten years of EPCIC experience related to onshore or offshore Oil and Gas or Power Generation projects.
  • Experience with planning and scheduling for large LNG or topside fabrication projects is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including creating curves, histograms, dynamic tables, and formula applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage logically linked activity schedules aligned with EPCIC precedence flows and best industry practices.
  • Capability to produce and interpret progress curves, histograms, variance analyses, and critical path data.
  • Skilled in analyzing project status, performance deviations, forecasts, and proposing workarounds.
  • Expertise in creating multidisciplinary logically linked schedules according to precedence flows using industry standards.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and leadership.
