About the Organisation
QBCC is Queensland’s independent regulator for the building and construction sector. Its role is to educate, protect and support the industry and the wider community through fair, transparent oversight.
The organisation places people at the centre of its work and is focused on building an inclusive, high-performing and future-ready workforce where employees can do meaningful work and achieve strong outcomes for industry and the community.
About the Opportunity
As a Senior Learning and Development Advisor, you will help deliver one of QBCC’s key capability initiatives: the QBCC Academy Onboarding Program. This role is focused on helping new employees settle in quickly, understand QBCC’s purpose, and build the confidence and capability needed to contribute effectively from day one.
You will create onboarding and learning experiences that support connection, behaviour change and practical application in a modern regulatory environment. The role suits a confident facilitator who enjoys helping people learn, grow and succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead QBCC Academy Welcome Days and onboarding workshops, making the experience engaging and memorable for new employees.
- Deliver learning through both face-to-face sessions and virtual formats.
- Build learning spaces that encourage participation, discussion, reflection and hands-on application.
- Model the QBCC Way and help employees understand the organisation’s values, behaviours and decision-making approach.
- Develop, refine and improve learning materials, tools and content that align with business priorities.
- Work with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure onboarding reflects operational and regulatory needs.
- Include structured learning activities, assessment and workplace transfer methods that strengthen capability.
- Review program impact and use participant feedback to improve the onboarding experience over time.
- Help maintain consistency across teams and regions while keeping learning practical and relevant.
About You
To be effective in this role, you should bring strong facilitation and presentation skills, along with the ability to engage varied audiences and create learning experiences that leave a lasting impression.
You will also have experience delivering onboarding programs, workshops or capability initiatives, as well as strong instructional design capability and the ability to create content in multiple formats. A genuine interest in behaviour change, workplace performance and employee experience is important.
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills are essential, as is the ability to coordinate several priorities at once. Experience using Learning Management Systems and digital learning tools will be valuable.
Experience supporting leadership development or leadership onboarding will be viewed favourably.
Work Location and Arrangement
This position is based in Brisbane and the successful applicant will be placed on a flexible work arrangement with Brisbane as the primary location. While some work-from-home flexibility is available, regular attendance at the Brisbane office is required.
How to Apply
Applicants must submit a current resume and a capability statement of no more than 2 pages. The statement should address experience in:
- Facilitating and presenting to diverse audiences
- Designing and developing learning resources and content
- Delivering workshops, onboarding programs and capability initiatives
- Building relationships and collaborating with stakeholders
- Creating engaging learning experiences that improve performance and support behaviour change
Why Join QBCC
