Job Overview
This role involves independently performing complex investigative duties with minimal supervision within the domain of customs evasion. The incumbent operates under established guidelines to produce specialized and ad-hoc reports, contributing to the achievement of operational milestones and targets. Key tasks include supporting investigation planning, evaluating investigation cases for risk prioritization, conducting thorough probes into customs evasion, and analyzing appeals and objections related to investigation outcomes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and comprehend established customs investigation plans to develop detailed operational plans that align with the overall strategic objectives of the authority.
- Design day-to-day investigation schedules emphasizing specific focus areas and coordinate investigator rotations to ensure comprehensive and timely coverage.
- Assess and prioritize incoming investigation cases by categorizing risks and documenting cases within the system.
- Execute investigations into customs fraud, evasions, and breaches using diverse methodologies such as post-clearance audits, declaration examinations, valuation reviews, and restriction assessments, collaborating with internal auditors as needed.
- Evaluate ongoing investigative activities to ensure adherence to standardized procedures, suggesting necessary modifications for discrepancies.
- Oversee the performance of investigators, ensuring compliance with operational plans, and initiate corrective measures when performance issues are identified.
- Receive, analyze, and reassess objections and appeals on investigation decisions within specified deadlines, ensuring alignment with policies and procedures.
- Compile comprehensive final reports summarizing findings and ensuring data is accurately recorded for future reference.
- Identify and report recurring patterns and trends in investigations, sharing insights with relevant stakeholders in accordance with ethical standards and quality norms.
- Generate performance evaluations for investigators highlighting operational weaknesses and necessary training to improve investigative effectiveness.
- Adhere diligently to all relevant policies, processes, and standard operating procedures to guarantee consistent and controlled workflow.
- Resolve escalated issues and provide support to junior staff, ensuring efficient task execution.
- Delegate responsibilities clearly, monitor workflow, and support junior staff in fulfilling their roles according to established procedures.
- Escalate complex issues to appropriate personnel to ensure proper resolution.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.
Educational and Experience Requirements
The candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or an equivalent field along with at least two years of relevant experience in the investigation, customs, or related domains.
