Role Overview
The Senior Data Scientist on the Core Analytics team will specialize in Ad Quality and Ad Products. This role involves working closely with stakeholders, product managers, and engineers to tackle complex analytical challenges and deliver actionable insights that influence strategic business decisions. Responsibilities include end-to-end problem-solving, from trend identification and measurement framework development to designing A/B tests and employing causal inference techniques. A significant portion of the role is dedicated to building data pipelines, dashboards, and automated reports to sustain high ad quality and optimize ad performance across Roku’s platform. The role requires translating complex technical findings into compelling data narratives and strategic recommendations for leadership and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain reporting data pipelines and dashboards to provide stakeholders with timely, accurate, and actionable insights.
- Design and implement A/B testing and apply causal inference methodologies to evaluate impact and guide product decisions.
- Collaborate directly with stakeholders to understand critical business questions aimed at enhancing Ad Quality and advancing Ads Products.
- Analyze both structured and unstructured data and effectively communicate insights to identify trends and support data-driven decision-making.
- Create analytics tools, models, alerts, and testing frameworks to assess Ad Quality and Ads Product metrics and shape business strategies.
- Deliver clear and effective presentations conveying findings and strategic recommendations to stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Interpret complex technical topics into understandable business recommendations.
- Offer feedback to company leadership on initiative performance and identify untapped business opportunities.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with over 5 years of advanced analytics experience or a Master’s/Ph.D. with at least 3 years of experience.
- Proficient in SQL and experienced with business intelligence platforms such as Looker.
- Skilled in data analysis and modeling using R or Python.
- Deep understanding of experimental design and causal inference, including A/B testing expertise.
- Experience with forecasting models such as SARIMA, Prophet, TFT, or similar techniques.
- Background in data management, analytics, data science, and reporting.
- Knowledge of advertising systems, programmatic advertising, and advertising identity frameworks.
- Ability to work autonomously and maintain effective relationships with multi-team stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, capable of creating data visualizations and narratives for both stakeholders and executive audiences.
- Proactive in identifying new opportunities and recommending solutions.
Use of AI
Roku leverages AI to support drafting, analysis, and repetitive workflow tasks, while relying on human oversight for direction and accountability. Preferred candidates have experience with AI agent-based engineering tools and practical implementation of agentic coding frameworks to improve productivity and deliver solutions.

Compensation for this role in New York ranges between $127,500 and $170,400 annually and is influenced by skills, certifications, and location.
