The Workforce Intelligence powered by Scientific Engineering (WISE) team supports Amazon's enterprise-wide workforce planning ecosystem. This team ensures Amazon maintains the optimal workforce composition, organizational layout, and geographic presence needed to meet long-term business goals with efficient cost management.
We are seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to join our machine learning and AI team, focusing on advanced optimization and large language model solutions. Collaborating with engineers, scientists, program managers, and senior leadership, you will develop innovative and impactful solutions. You should be passionate about customer-centric innovation, take strong ownership of product outcomes, and enjoy making meaningful contributions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead precise and timely execution of engineering milestones, providing guidance on design and technology trade-offs.
- Manage priorities effectively, juggling multiple requests and dependencies from diverse teams.
- Identify, implement, and refine processes to boost delivery and operational effectiveness.
- Engage proactively with stakeholders, balancing technical constraints and business needs to clarify ambiguous challenges.
- Maintain operational excellence by monitoring key metrics, addressing blockers, and managing escalations.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience building machine learning models for business applications.
- PhD or Master's degree combined with over 6 years of applied research expertise.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or similar.
- Experience with neural networks, deep learning approaches, and various machine learning techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with modeling tools like R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy, etc.
- Experience with large-scale distributed computing frameworks such as Hadoop and Spark.
