Security Officer

Role Overview

Qatar Airways invites applications for the position of Security Officer responsible for managing the continuous 24-hour security operations at Qatar Duty Free (QDF). This role ensures adherence to security protocols set by QDF management, safeguards company assets, and mitigates unlawful acts including theft, damage, and fraud at the airport premises. The Security Officer also facilitates communication and support for personnel across all QDF locations.

Key Duties

• Provide assistance and direction to teams in Retail, Food & Beverage, Warehousing, and other external QDF locations.
• Oversee security equipment and device monitoring within QDF, developing preventive strategies and policies to maintain safety of personnel and assets.
• Coordinate with Qatar Airways Security to conduct alcohol and drug screening tests regularly or as required, reporting suspicious behaviors to management for possible disciplinary action.
• Serve as the primary security contact during shifts, handling all related reporting tasks within QDF.
• Implement and supervise security measures to protect employees, guests, merchandise, and property.
• Ensure company compliance with internal security regulations, licensing, and governmental requirements by monitoring policies and procedures.
• Conduct physical inspections and risk assessments on the shop floor to verify adherence to security standards.
• Promptly report incidents, emergencies, or security concerns to QDF management following established communication protocols and ensure timely resolution.
• Collaborate with stock control management to investigate and track inventory losses across various QDF business locations including retail outlets, warehouses, staff accommodations, and boutiques.
• Manage fraud detection software operations, performing daily audits to uncover potential internal fraud cases.
• Promote a proactive culture for loss prevention by implementing controls, procedures, and training to minimize theft and fraud risks.
• Work closely with security service providers to evaluate performance, conduct inspections, patrols, and ensure achievement of security-related KPIs monthly.

Qualifications and Experience

• Hold a High School diploma or vocational qualification plus at least 4 years of relevant work experience, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years in a related security role.
• Certification in Basic First Aid and training in Fire Awareness and Fire Fighting.
• Proficient knowledge of security search and investigation techniques, current security technologies, audits, and surveys.
• Understanding of loss prevention principles and airport security plans.
• Familiarity with retail and airport operational security requirements.
• Competence in operating radio communication devices, CCTV systems, and other security apparatus.
• Capability to perform risk assessments and resolve conflicts effectively.
• Awareness of health and safety standards and theft prevention strategies.
• Strong command of English and ability to delegate tasks, provide guidance, and develop team members’ skills.
• Preferred experience includes prior supervisory roles in security and knowledge of inventory flow from merchandising to warehouse management.
