SAP ABAP Consultant - HCM

Role Overview

We seek a proficient SAP ABAP Consultant with deep expertise in SAP HCM/HR to develop, enhance, and maintain SAP-based solutions. The ideal candidate will have solid ABAP development experience alongside a comprehensive understanding of SAP HCM processes and HR requirements. This role involves active collaboration with HR teams, functional consultants, business stakeholders, and technical groups to convert HR needs into effective SAP implementations.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SAP ABAP programs including reports, interfaces, forms, and system enhancements.
• Focus on development and support activities related to SAP HCM/HR modules.
• Grasp HR processes such as Personnel Administration, Organizational Management, Time Management, Payroll, and maintenance of Employee Master Data.
• Create and manage SAP Reports, ALV grids, BAPIs, BAdIs, User Exits, Enhancements, Remote Function Calls (RFCs), IDocs, and integration interfaces.
• Handle SAP HCM infotypes, HR master data, and organizational structures efficiently.
• Develop and support integration pathways between SAP HCM and external third-party systems.
• Engage in data extraction, migration tasks, validation, and transforming HR data.
• Analyze incidents in production, identify root causes and deliver timely technical resolutions.
• Collaborate with functional consultants in gathering requirements and preparing technical specifications.
• Conduct unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and optimize system performance.
• Participate fully in requirement analysis, estimation, development, deployment, and support phases post-deployment.
• Ensure compliance with SAP development standards, coding guidelines, security protocols, and comprehensive documentation.
• Provide technical assistance during SAP upgrades, patches application, enhancement projects, and system changes.

Technical Expertise Required

• Proven hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development.
• Strong knowledge of ABAP Reporting and ALV Framework.
• Expertise in Data Dictionary components: Tables, Structures, Data Elements, and Domains.
• Familiarity with BAPIs, BAdIs, User Exits, and Enhancements for extensibility.
• Experience working with Remote Function Calls (RFC) and IDoc technologies.
• Skilled in developing interfaces and system integrations.
• Proficiency in Smart Forms, SAPscript, and Adobe Forms.
• Advanced debugging skills and performance tuning capabilities.
• Experienced in using Open SQL for database interactions.
• Good exposure to SAP HCM/HR modules and solid understanding of HCM infotypes and master data structures.
• Knowledge of Payroll and Time Management modules will be advantageous.
• Familiarity with ABAP Objects and Object-Oriented ABAP is desirable.
• Understanding of S/4HANA environment and ABAP on HANA is preferred.
• Experience with SAP Fiori, OData services, Core Data Services (CDS) Views, or SAP integration technologies is a plus.

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
• Certification in SAP ABAP/HCM is an advantage but not mandatory.
