Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Safety Engineer to help sustain a secure working environment on construction sites by facilitating the application and supervision of health and safety standards, practices, and protocols.
Key Duties
- Carry out frequent site inspections to detect hazards and ensure alignment with safety laws and standards.
- Oversee the condition and use of safety gear, confirming all equipment functions correctly.
- Assist in risk assessment processes to identify and measure potential safety risks on site.
- Suggest and enforce preventive actions to reduce identified risks effectively.
- Deliver foundational safety training and awareness sessions to employees and subcontractors.
- Make certain all personnel understand and adhere to established safety guidelines.
- Compile detailed reports on incidents and conduct root cause evaluations to avoid recurrence.
- Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents to pinpoint improvement opportunities.
- Support creation and execution of occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Ensure consistent compliance with OHS regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with site managers, supervisors, and workers to cultivate a safety-focused workplace culture.
- Offer input and recommendations to enhance safety protocols on-site.
Candidate Qualifications
- Proficient verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software tools.
- Adaptability and efficiency working in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Strong attentiveness to detail and the ability to identify safety breaches.
- Capable of working autonomously and collaboratively within teams.
- Previous experience in construction, specifically in industrial projects, is essential.
