About the Role

If you feel your current job lacks progression, consider shifting gears by joining us as a Roadside Rescue Mechanic. This role offers guaranteed first-year earnings of £39,429 inclusive of location allowance, with the potential to earn up to £60,000 annually based on top performance.

Working as a patrol, you will maintain an average 40-hour workweek with flexible shift options to suit your personal and professional life. The number of rest days and shift lengths will depend on the pattern you select.

As the friendly face of the UK's largest motoring organisation, you will assist members by responding to vehicle breakdowns anytime, anywhere, and in any weather, helping drivers get back on the road confidently.

Core Responsibilities

  • Begin and finish shifts from your driveway with paid time starting when you enter your van until you return home.
  • Operate independently at diverse locations under varying conditions, while remaining connected to a supportive team.
  • Apply your technical expertise and communication skills to ensure positive customer experiences.
  • Diagnose and resolve roadside issues promptly using your mechanical skills and calm demeanor.

Requirements

  • Possess an NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or hold equivalent qualifications paired with relevant experience.
  • Hold a full category B driving license with no more than six penalty points.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and enthusiasm for using new technology provided as part of the role.
  • Be willing to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, to meet the demands of breakdown response services.

Additional Information and Benefits

  • Flexibility to select standby hours annually to accommodate your lifestyle and work-life balance.
  • Start with 23 days of annual leave (which increases with tenure) plus an option to buy additional leave.
  • Participation in a Worksave pension scheme featuring up to 7% employer contribution.
  • Immediate free AA breakdown membership and a 50% discount for family and friends.
  • Access to discounts on AA products including vehicle and home insurance.
  • Employee discount programs offering benefits such as a car salary sacrifice scheme and savings on healthcare, shopping, and holidays.
  • Company-funded life assurance coverage.
  • Opportunities for diverse learning and career development to support your progression.
  • Support services including an Employee Assistance Programme and 24/7 remote GP access for you and your family.

We embrace inclusivity and encourage applicants from all backgrounds. Our recruitment process includes completing a brief online application, followed by an interview and standard pre-employment checks such as references, credit, and criminal record screening.

If you are ready to join a supportive and dynamic team, apply today to become a vital Roadside Rescue Mechanic with us!
