Role Overview

The Risk & Assurance Officer - Business Continuity plays a vital role in enhancing Life Without Barriers' ability to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptions impacting people, services, and operations. The position is responsible for advancing and maintaining business continuity, emergency management, and resilience frameworks through planning, risk assessment, testing, exercises, and continuous improvement. Collaborating across various departments, the officer ensures the organisation continues to deliver safe and dependable services during times of disruption. This permanent full-time role offers flexibility to work from home or an office location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with different business units to identify, assess, and manage risks related to business continuity and organisational resilience.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and enhancing business continuity plans, recovery procedures, frameworks, and resources.
  • Organise and coordinate testing, exercises, and assurance activities to validate readiness and strengthen resilience capabilities.
  • Evaluate incidents, exercise results, and assurance feedback to promote ongoing improvements and implement corrective actions.
  • Support emergency management preparedness, including the coordination of the National Emergency Management Team and related activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive risk and assurance reports, assist with regulatory compliance and accreditation processes, and promote best practices in continuity and resilience.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in risk management, governance, business, emergency management, public administration, or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in risk management, assurance, governance, compliance, or related operational roles.
  • Experience in supporting risk frameworks, managing risk registers, and undertaking assurance activities.
  • Knowledge and experience with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Understanding of continuity planning, preparedness, exercising, and recovery protocols.
  • Strong analytical abilities to identify risks, trends, dependencies, and capability weaknesses.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, capable of collaborating across diverse corporate and operational teams.
  • Ability to influence and build organisational capability without direct reporting authority.
