Role overview
This contract Recruiter V position in Toronto, Ontario is a hybrid role, with onsite presence expected 1–2 days per week. The assignment runs for 12 months and may be extended or converted. Compensation starts at $35 per hour.
About the role
In this position, you will act as a talent advisor for an assigned business portfolio, guiding hiring decisions and supporting a full range of recruitment activities. You will partner closely with hiring managers across the recruitment lifecycle, using market knowledge, sourcing expertise, and recruitment data to improve hiring outcomes and candidate experience.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted talent advisor for your portfolio by using knowledge of the business, organization, and broader talent market to support hiring decisions.
- Own the full end-to-end recruitment process, including specialized talent acquisition programs.
- Create and run sourcing plans based on market insights and industry best practices to attract both active and passive candidates.
- Develop and sustain a diverse candidate pipeline to meet immediate and future hiring needs.
- Guide business leaders and hiring managers on labor market conditions, sourcing options, and alternate recruiting approaches.
- Translate recruitment plans into action and coach hiring managers on hiring strategy and approach.
- Provide a positive experience for both hiring managers and candidates throughout the recruitment journey.
- Stay current on HR policies, recruitment procedures, and talent acquisition programs.
- Build strong relationships with HR partners, Centres of Excellence, business stakeholders, and hiring managers to clarify current and future workforce needs.
- Track, review, and use recruitment metrics and reporting to inform sourcing and hiring strategies.
- Support employer branding efforts through job advertising, networking, social media, and other recruiting channels.
- Represent the organization at recruitment events and hiring functions as needed.
- Manage workload effectively to meet SLAs, productivity goals, and hiring timelines.
- Follow enterprise recruitment frameworks, methods, policies, and operational standards.
- Support a strong compliance mindset by adhering to recruitment controls and risk-management practices.
- Lead or assist with special hiring initiatives and act as a subject matter expert when needed, both internally and externally.
- Assess and communicate the effectiveness of recruitment plans, programs, and processes.
- Make sure recruitment practices align with business requirements, internal and external rules, and HR priorities.
- Carry out research to support hiring initiatives, presentations, and communications.
- Keep up to date on new recruiting trends, industry changes, and regulatory developments, and consider how they may affect hiring activity.
- Resolve recruitment-related issues and escalations quickly and thoroughly.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and negotiation skills.
- Self-directed with the ability to juggle several priorities at once.
- Basic coaching and mentoring capability, including the ability to give constructive feedback.
- Working knowledge of employment laws, hiring policies, and recruitment procedures.
- Understanding of recruitment, selection, and talent acquisition principles.
- Awareness of business and management concepts, including strategic planning.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent training.
Additional details
This role is a 12-month contract with a possibility of extension and conversion. The pay rate is listed as $35 per hour onwards. The role is hybrid, with 1–2 days onsite each week in Toronto, ON.
