R&D Scientist

About the Role

Join a global team dedicated to harnessing scientific testing and data insights to contribute to a healthier future. As part of the expanding Commercial Research and Development team at our Hamilton facility, you will support clients across New Zealand, Australia, and internationally in their research, product innovation, regulatory compliance, and safety initiatives. Our clients span sectors such as honey, dairy, environmental science, food production, nutraceuticals, and research testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage directly with clients to grasp their technical challenges and needs.
• Explore and propose analytical solutions, preparing detailed quotations.
• Develop and validate analytical methods using advanced instrumentation including LC-MS/MS, LC-HRMS, HPLC, IC, and GCMS, ensuring adherence to required standards.
• Analyze a variety of samples aided by experienced technicians, and generate comprehensive reports for clients and regulatory authorities.

Candidate Profile

• Experienced scientist who thrives within a supportive, enthusiastic team culture aligned with values of technical excellence, customer service, honesty, curiosity, resilience, and collaboration.
• Possesses a postgraduate qualification in science or equivalent experience in relevant life sciences.
• Brings over five years’ experience in commercial analytical testing or a related science and technology environment, demonstrating innovation, creativity, and efficiency.
• Skilled in applying scientific knowledge to fulfill customer requirements in a quality-driven setting.
• Capable of delivering project results effectively to varied audiences.
• Experienced with contemporary analytical instruments, particularly chromatography and mass spectroscopy techniques.
• Proficient in computer applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and instrument software.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities coupled with a strong work ethic, valued as a collaborative team player.
• Self-driven with the capability to manage complete project cycles independently, from client inquiry through to results delivery, while seeking assistance when needed to meet quality standards.
• Customer-oriented with a focus on delivering favorable outcomes and maintaining transparent communication regarding challenges or delays.
• Able to manage multiple priorities effectively and perform well under pressure.
