About the Role
Our client, an established Irish contractor, is expanding their team in Trim, County Meath, and is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor. This role encompasses comprehensive cost management activities across building projects primarily in Ireland and the UK, focused on maintaining budgetary control and contract administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage directly with clients from initial inquiry stages through to the closure of final accounts.
- Develop commercial plans and oversee precise cost tracking and management of projects.
- Prepare pricing documents and tender submissions while managing procurement packages.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers on contract variation matters and lead subcontract purchasing negotiations.
- Manage account settlements and final financial agreements.
- Maintain communications with clients, engineers, and contractors to ensure project alignment.
- Monitor and control project variations and produce critical financial documentation including cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
- Handle tender queries and compile tender evaluation reports.
- Prepare progress claims and financial updates regularly.
- Represent the company in project and subcontractor meetings.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks effectively.
- Systematically manage all contract documentation and revisions.
- Report financial status and progress of projects to management accurately.
- Keep comprehensive records of project works as they develop.
- Supervise project costs versus budget, detect potential issues or opportunities, and advise on or implement necessary changes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or higher qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
- Proven experience in quantity surveying roles, particularly within main contracting firms.
- Competency in BuildSoft software is essential.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Project, and Word; AutoCAD experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Keen operational focus with meticulous attention to detail.
- Experienced in building project environments in Ireland or the UK.
- Excellent presentation and written communication skills.
