Role Overview

The QC Inspector for Welding is responsible for independently overseeing the quality control of welding tasks to ensure all work aligns with approved project drawings, established procedures, codes, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections of welding activities aligned with approved Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), drawings, and specifications.
  • Supervise welding operations to confirm adherence to approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
  • Confirm the qualifications of welders and manage the traceability and control of welding consumables.
  • Coordinate and review Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) processes such as Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), and Penetrant Testing (PT) with the NDT team; analyze outcomes against set acceptance criteria.
  • Examine QC documentation, material certificates, and inspection and test records provided by contractors and subcontractors.
  • Identify and document deviations through Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), overseeing the follow-up corrective actions to resolution.
  • Maintain strict compliance with project Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations throughout site activities.

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Welding, or a related Engineering field, or equivalent trade experience.
  • Mandatory current CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification.
  • Familiarity with ASME IX, API 1104, and other pertinent welding codes and standards.
  • AWS-CWI certification is considered a valuable additional qualification.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience as a QC Inspector focusing on welding within the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Substantial experience conducting QC inspections on EPC or brownfield projects in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or LNG sectors.
